LISA

Recently i finished LISA: The Painful and I loved it. The gameplay and story combined makes it probably my favorite RPG of all time right now, and the characters are so fun to draw! This page will essentially be my thoughts about certain characters as well as some personal headcanons for them, so enjoy if you happen to like LISA as well.

This page may contain mentions of abuse, slight body horror, and violence. Proceed with caution.

My thoughts on Brad and the way he treated Buddy

I've seen several people say Brad is a terrible person and though, yes, he didn't exactly do the best thing ever for her, I can see where he came from with his decision to hide Buddy away from the rest of Olathe.

I think the most basic thing is that, well, everybody wanted their hands on Buddy. He may have not cared so much about Buddy herself but he still wanted the best for her anyways (if that makes any sense). I don't agree with him keeping her in the basement of their home for so many years but it makes some sense. She's most likely around 10-13 during the events of Painful, who knows what people would have done to her if she happened to be away from Brad if he ever went out in the world with her.

Should he have introduced her to the outside a lot more and not have emotionally neglected her? Of course, I think everybody agrees, but, considering his past experience with Marty and Lisa, his ultimate goal is to keep Buddy safe. In a post-flash with some of the worst people having the most power, one of the best ideas in Brad's mind was to hide her away in order to protect her.

The way he treated Buddy(at least partially) was influenced by Marty. Seeing another person be hurt by a terrible man is something Brad is most definitely scared of, so he shields her from everybody else and teaches her how to kill, just in case. The fact that people SYMPATHIZE with Marty is terrible. He most definitely did not change, and Buddy most definitely would have been abused the same way as Lisa was. Because of his effects on Brad, Lisa, and indirectly Buddy, I could never forgive Marty.

Anyways, that's a bit of my thoughts on that.
